Overview

Why Uganda

Uganda is lush, green and gloriously diverse — home to roughly half the world's mountain gorillas, plus chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions and the mighty Murchison Falls. Gorilla permits cost less than in Rwanda, and the trekking is wonderfully wild.

From Bwindi's misty forest to the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth, Uganda packs astonishing variety into one country.

  • Mountain gorillas in Bwindi
  • Chimpanzee tracking
  • Tree-climbing lions of Ishasha
  • The Nile's spectacular Murchison Falls
  • Excellent value gorilla permits

The drier months (June–September and December–February) make for the easiest trekking, though gorillas and chimps can be tracked all year. The wetter seasons bring lush forest and lower visitor numbers.
